My Shadow - Robert Louis Stevenson

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

This Household is [2] Days Accident Free!

Yep. Turns out it's a really big deal when you're a puppy to go two days without using the house as your personal toilet. Also no paws have been stepped on, nobody's fallen down the stairs, and my skin is still (mostly) intact! So this is by far and away our longest non-injury streak... I hope to keep it going.

In other news today was a big day. We went to the vet and she said Lola was perfect. I couldn't agree more and so pretty much ignored everything the vet said after that. All-in-all an excellent trip. Also Lola weighed in at .... you ready? ... 17.8 lbs. Yep that is an ADG of ~0.27 lbs/day. Which is pretty impressive for a puppy in my opinion. If she keeps gaining at this rate... well... let's just hope she slows down at some point otherwise I will be raising a small horse instead of a dog. After the vet we went for a long walk where we encountered all sorts of interesting dogs/people. Most notably the 40 year old man listening to his walkman on rollerblades. Go Figure.

After a long day Lola was ready to hit the hay. That is to say she was snoring like a sailor by around 8:30. Here's a little video evidence:

(Also the snoring is louder in real life... the cuteness factor is pretty much the same though)

Lola Gets.

Hello Friends and (let's be realistic) mainly Family!

This is really for all of you who are also puzzling over the very important question... how big is Lola going to get? In lieu of a formal competition I plan to post the weekly, daily, and even possibly hourly updates extracted from the very exciting life of Lola and I. This will (of course) include her growth track, but will also update you on our lives and whatever new trend is in vogue (currently it is exactly that... Lola has taken to eating my Vogue. She's very excited for the September Issue) That and I plan to include a lot of really cute pictures of Lola. And not-so-cute pictures of the things she destroys.

I can't promise to be any good at blogging but I can promise to keep it updated so that people besides mom can see the pictures. Also I'm not offended if you don't read it. I just want to make sure that I record this somehow because I have a feeling someday I'm going to look back and laugh about the time that Lola chewed a hole in my flip flops (and yes I wore those flip flops to work today because I hurt my toe chasing her around and now closed toed shoes hurt to wear).

We've got a vet appointment this evening - last time she weighed in at 12 pounds so we'll see how much she gained in three weeks! I feel a very strong flashback to 4-H... maybe I'll get her a stallcard...

Love You!
